Schuyler County Habitat for Humanity

In light of the recent passing of President Carter, it was especially meaningful to select Schuyler County Habitat for Humanity as our charity partner. This organization, a local affiliate of the Yates County Habitat for Humanity, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that works to build homes and improve living conditions for those in need in the Finger Lakes region. While this area is a popular tourist destination, many residents live below the national poverty line, and the support from Habitat for Humanity is vital in improving their circumstances.

Schuyler County Habitat for Humanity operates solely on the generosity of volunteers, charitable donations, and community partnerships. With a community population of just 17,500, the volunteer base is limited, but that has not stopped them from successfully building 5 homes within the county.  The 6th project is scheduled to start this summer and will be in the nearby town of Montour Falls.
